About us
Klincoe Boerdery was established due to the love of farming and vision to provide quality free range and hormone free meat to its customers. Extensive farming methods and financial models were tested and after two years a fluid farming model was developed, that can be adapted continuously. Klincoe Boerdery farms in the George district, Southern Cape, as well as in the Karoo. Klincoe Boerdery can be divided into two main areas:
1. Hormone Free, Free-range cattle
Cattle graze on natural pastures, range free and are fed hormone free feed. The feed is guaranteed free of hormones, Ionophores and medicaments. All Klincoe Boerdery’s feed mixtures are developed in house and mixed exclusively for them.
Klincoe Boerdery uses intensive, rotational grazing methods, ensuring that the pastures are always optimized correctly and have sufficient time to regrow. Furthermore, the animals are always ensured to be grazing on the best pasture.
Cattle are divided into groups according to weight, age and sex. These groups determine the amount of additional natural feed that the cattle are given. The additional feed serves as an additional fattening source and does not replace the natural, free-range pastures. Cattle are weighed continuously and moved between the different groups as they gain weight . The amount of Natural feed given is determined by the weight and group that the cattle are in.
This method has proven to be a saving of up to 60% compared to conventional feed lots. “A” grade beef has a slaughter % of up to 58% and C grade cattle perform exceptionally on this method.
Greeff’s Butchery and Natures Chef, an online meat and products shop, exclusively uses Klincoe Boerdery’s cattle for all its meat products. Visit Natures Chef at www.natureschef.co.za
